Preparing For Your RV’s Service Department Visit
While there are plenty of RV maintenance tasks you can do yourself, you’ll inevitably need to visit an RV service department. The question is, when do you need to do that? What should you do to prepare for it? This quick guide gives you all the details.
How Often?
Typically, you’ll want to get your RV professionally serviced on an annual basis. This is, of course, in addition to any maintenance you perform on your own at home. A yearly checkup should be sufficient to prevent small issues from developing into massive headaches.
Appointments Or Walk-Ins?
Whenever possible, it’s always best to make an appointment with your chosen service department. This is particularly true during the busy season (summer), but it’s also wise at any other time of the year because RV service departments can get busy. Having an established appointment is the best way to ensure the mechanic will have time to look at your RV and fully address the issues you’re having.
What Should I Do?
Make your appointment, then make a list of the things that need to be addressed. Try to be as specific and detailed as possible about the problems you’re having or the maintenance you’re seeking. This will save your mechanic valuable time so they can get right to work. Be on time to your appointment and make sure that there’s nothing in the way of any systems that the RV mechanic needs to be able to access.
