An RV is a huge investment, and it only makes sense that you would want to keep it as secure as possible. Luckily, there are all kinds of things you can do to deter would-be RV thieves. Follow this advice from the experts at Jubilee R.V. Centre to secure your RV against theft.

Parking

One easy way to deter RV theft is to park in a safe area. While of course no parking space will ever be 100% safe, locations that see a lot of traffic have more potential witnesses nearby, which will make your RV a less tempting target. If you own a towable RV, try keeping it pointed away from the road so that thieves have a harder time hitching it up.

Lock Everything

Locks are a useful tool to prevent RV theft. Besides just locking your RV’s doors and windows, you can go even further to make your camper secure. If your RV is a towable model, invest in a hitch lock so that no one can hitch up your RV without your consent. If you own an motorhome, consider buying a wheel lock. Tire boots are another way to secure your RV against theft.

Hide Valuables

Leaving valuable items like jewelry or electronics in plain sight make your RV a more tempting target for thieves. Stow these items away and draw your blinds whenever you’re not in the RV. If you wish, you can also invest in a safe to better secure your belongings.

Other Precautions

Some companies sell security systems for RVs. While expensive to install, these systems will help keep your camper secure. Another thing you can do to fight RV theft is to take steps to make your RV easier to identify. This can be anything from a decal or custom paint job to a unique interior design. Anything that makes your RV more unique and easier to identify will make recovering it easier should it be stolen.
