Tiny homes, also known as park models, are a booming business in the 21st century, thanks to the increased popularity of minimalism and simple living. Many people are choosing to downsize from larger, more traditional homes into small and compact tiny homes, where the lack of clutter and mess can be very freeing. 

However, you do still have to own things, and it can be challenging to figure out how to store everything you need in a limited amount of space. Here are our best tips for organizing your tiny home to keep it tidy.

1. Use the Walls to Your Advantage

An oft-overlooked space even in standard homes, the walls of your tiny house can be your friend when it comes to staying organized. Here are a few things to try:

  • In the kitchen, you can mount a spice rack or a magnetic knife strip to the walls to keep these items handy for cooking. 
  • In the bathroom, putting up a shelf over the toilet or along the wall can give you more space to store toiletries and cleaning supplies.
  • In the bedroom, you can use the walls to hang up hats, scarves, coats, belts, bags, jackets and other accessories with Command™ hooks.

2. Contain Items in Cabinets & Drawers

When you’ve got many items to store in drawers and cabinets, it’s a good idea to use plastic or fabric containers to keep like items corralled together. Medications, condiments, makeup, socks, underwear, utensils, craft supplies, and cleaning supplies can all be sorted into various containers within your drawers and cabinets so that you don’t end up with things falling out or preventing the drawers from closing.

3. Invest in Storage Furnishings

Another option for creating more storage is to buy pieces of furniture that can contain items within them. A bed with drawers underneath it can hold winter clothing or sheets and blankets. A storage ottoman in the living room can hold small electronics. Any table you have should have a shelf, cabinet, or drawer in it that can give you additional storage spaces.
